Durante nossa conversa, ela não contou muita vantagem, mas quem pega o seu currículo sabe do tino raro que ela tem para o métier. Isso porque também são dela o desenvolvimento de Be Delicious, da DKNY – um dos maiores símbolos da perfumaria dos anos 2000 –, a internacionalização da Cacharel – no começo dos anos 1990, foi ela que colocou Eden e Lou Lou no mapa, por exemplo –, e a entrada do grupo Estée Lauder no mercado de nicho com as aquisições de Le Labo, Frédéric Malle e Killian.

“Lançamos minha marca pouco antes da pandemia. No começo, foi complicado, pois não podíamos fazer muita coisa. Durante dois anos, nada aconteceu”, diz sobre o começo da empresa que carrega seu nome e onde ela está até hoje. “Tudo é inspirado na Côte d’Azur, lugar onde nasci, me casei e crio meus perfumes. Há um fio condutor na marca: a composição natural. Quero que você não apenas aprecie o aroma, mas também se sinta bem – escolhemos os ingredientes não apenas pelo cheiro, mas pelo bem-estar que transmitem.” Aliás, Véronique Gabai não é uma marca só de fragrâncias. Velas, loções corporais, boosters para sobrepor aos perfumes, acessórios para decorá-los e frascos focados especificamente em aromaterapia completam o portfólio extenso da grife.

“Minha perfumaria tem uma característica luminosa, fresca e texturizada”, diz Véronique sobre suas criações que não devem demorar para chegar ao Brasil. “Acabamos de assinar com uma distribuidora – a Prestige – que faz essa ponte. Estou muito ansiosa e feliz por isso. Acredito que os brasileiros vão gostar principalmente das minhas fragrâncias que unem frescor à longa fixação – o que é um desafio do ponto de vista da formulação quando se prioriza os ingredientes naturais –, mas nós conseguimos”, aposta. “O perfume é uma emoção líquida. O olfato é o único sentido ligado diretamente ao sistema límbico, onde estão nossas memórias.

Entre seus hits, segundo a fundadora, está o Le point G – do francês, “ponto G” –, um eau de parfum (bem-humorado) musgoso, floral e amadeirado. O Eau d’Azur – outra das 15 fragrâncias da marca –, é também um dos queridinhos. Com composição centrada na flor de laranjeira, ele também leva almíscar e jasmim. “É o cheiro das férias em Antibes. Não à toa, é o que estou usando agora”, revela. “O olfato é o único sentido ligado diretamente ao sistema límbico, onde estão nossas memórias. É por isso que acredito que os perfumes são emoções líquidas”, arremata. Agora é só esperar até eles chegarem por aqui!

À primeira vista, é difícil distinguir o que é pedra e o que é plástico. “Esse é o propósito da coleção: pegar o plástico e levá-lo para um lugar de pedra”, afirma Filipe Troncon, sócio do escritório.

As peças são feitas, na verdade, de placas de plástico reciclado e fragmentos de pedras naturais, provenientes de sobras e descartes de chapas. Ao todo, In.verso reúne 15 itens, entre mesas de centro, mesas laterais, mesa de jogos, espelhos e arandelas.

“Trabalhamos com plástico triturado em tons claros e exploramos uma espécie de alquimia, com temperos e argilas, para alcançar diferentes tonalidades”, explica Daniela Frugiuele, também sócia da Suite.

Entre os ingredientes utilizados estão argila rosa, pimenta, cominho e açafrão, responsáveis por variar as cores das peças.

“Para toda essa coleção, a gente tirou do meio ambiente meia tonelada de plástico”, complementa. “A gente está tirando um lixo que estava poluindo para repensar o material, trazer a um patamar de quase luxo e explorá-lo para o mobiliário.”

O endereço, no bairro de Ipanema, já foi conhecido por concentrar lojas de grandes grifes internacionais. Hoje, os inquilinos são etiquetas que viraram emblemas da moda brasileira. A vizinha de porta é a Farm (a Farm Etc, para ser mais preciso). Depois vem a Granado, a Dengo, do outro lado da rua está a Sauer e, mais adiante, a Misci.

Durante um tour pelo espaço, na manhã de terça-feira (07.04), os sócios Rodrigo Latini e Luiz Rocha ressaltaram algumas vezes a importância e o orgulho de fazer parte dessa vizinhança. Referências brasileiras – sobretudo ao modernismo brasileiro – sempre fizeram parte do repertório da Zerezes, só demorou um tanto para serem entendidas e tratadas como um diferencial.

A história começa 14 anos atrás, com um projeto de faculdade dos amigos Luiz Rocha e Hugo Galindo (os sócios-fundadores), ambos formados em design pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). A ideia era criar um produto distinto do que já havia no mercado e alinhado às tendências de comportamento e consumo em ascensão. O resultado foram óculos de sol feitos de madeira reaproveitada. E as pessoas gostaram.
No boca a boca, o negócio engrenou. As peças eram feitas em pouquíssima quantidade, muitas vezes no laboratório de prototipagem do curso, sem recurso e/ou investimento externo. Até que em 2014, a Farm fez um pedido de 150 modelos. Com o dinheiro da compra, a exposição e a chancela, o empreendimento deslanchou. Foi nessa época que veio o primeiro ponto de venda físico: uma loja temporária – que acabou virando permanente – junto à etiqueta de calçados Odde no Fashion Mall.
“A gente sabia que a madeira que nos deu tanta projeção era uma tendência e uma hora esse interesse iria diminuir”, diz Luiz. Para continuar crescendo, explica ele, era necessário expandir o repertório. Rodrigo (amigo de infância de Hugo) entrou na sociedade nessa época. Em 2017, um ano depois da sua chegada, a Zerezes abriu sua primeira loja própria e individual, no centro do Rio de Janeiro.
A expansão no varejo foi acelerada. A alta demanda também incentivou o trio a estudar com mais atenção o mercado de óticas. Foi aí que eles perceberam a oportunidade de explorar os óculos de receituário como acessórios de moda. Ao descomplicar o atendimento, simplificar a oferta e reduzir os custos de produção das lentes, a marca quer mudar a percepção e a relação das pessoas com tais itens. A ideia é poder trocar de óculos assim como trocamos de roupa. De acordo com nosso humor, look ou ocasião.

Encontrar um denominador comum para um catálogo em constante expansão não foi exatamente difícil. “Sempre soubemos o que faz sentido para o nosso estilo”, fala Rodrigo. Apesar das inovações, alguns elementos são perenes: os formatos considerados (nem pequenos, nem grandes demais); o equilíbrio entre geometria e organicidade; as tonalidades suaves das lentes (puxadas para verdes, marrons e amarelos); as cores fechadas ou neutras das armações.
O foco, até então, era se posicionar como um agente de moda. Na vitrine da loja, está escrito “até dói chamar de ótica”. Colaborações com criadores e grifes do meio não foram poucas. Em paralelo, rolaram parcerias com instituições culturais, como o Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (Masp). O que faltava era um entendimento nítido do que tudo isso representa.
Não mais: “A abertura dessa flagship marca um momento muito claro de maturidade da Zerezes”, fala Rodrigo. “Hoje, temos mais clareza sobre o que o nosso design comunica: não apenas estética, mas cultura, repertório e identidade.” E os planos futuros pretendem reforçar tal posicionamento com bastante ênfase.

It was one of the most anticipated debuts of recent years, and Jonathan Anderson came out swinging. The designer reinvented Dior with froufrou grunge demi-couture, complete with padded hips, military-inspired jackets, and his own version of an 18th-century bicorne hat. He wasn’t the only one to rewind the clock this season: Catherine Holstein of Khaite experimented with rigid bodices, while Simone Rocha continued to tease out interpretations of modern romanticism with drop waists and sumptuous fabrics. Nicolas Ghesquière chose to show his spring Louis Vuitton collection in Anne of Austria’s 17th-century summer apartments at the Louvre.

Fashion is having another retro renaissance, and it draws from an era well before low-rise jeans. In fact, this style takes these ideas to the extreme: The silhouettes are unabashedly romantic, and embellishments are handcrafted with eclectic wares. In short, the runways are going cuckoo for Rococo.

The Rococo movement was a heavily decorative style associated with 18th-century France, steeped in unabashed decadence and associated with an era of excess. What’s less remembered: The aesthetic was, at first, rebellious. Its ornamental playfulness and disavowal of classical rules stood in stark contrast to the symmetry and austerity of the Baroque period. On today’s runways, panniers sing a tune of disenchantment with yesterday’s cashmere crewnecks. Clothing is again taking up space­—in shape, color, and our conversations.

It also helps that period-piece television is gripping our screens. Between The Gilded Age and Bridgerton, it’s clear that viewers are lusting after a sense of historical sentimentalism experienced through scripted drama and rose-colored glasses. Plus, Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and few movie visuals have nailed such a sardonic interpretation of Rococo style as the anachronistic pair of Converses seen during the film’s fashion montage.

New York designer Meruert Tolegen admires the era’s exquisite craftsmanship, something that she feels is apparent even at the first glance of a Fragonard. She often studies the Rococo works at the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the classics at the Frick Collection for inspiration. What strikes her most is the expertise, both in the paintings themselves and the clothing pictured, each alluding to a vast archive of lost techniques. “It’s not necessarily discernible how they made the garment, but [it sparks] this love for the intricacy of embroideries and beadings,” she explains. The designer doesn’t foresee a modern woman wearing her panniers to run errands. She is not a “cream puff” waiting to be decorated, she jokes; however, she delights in offering an updated interpretation that pays homage to a former era of skilled design.

“I think the sense of structure and silhouette can lend itself beautifully to a woman’s wardrobe now,” echoes Erdem Moralıoğlu. His spring 2026 collection took inspiration from Hélène Smith, a 19th-century medium and artist who believed that in one of her past lives, she had been a member of the French court. The designer, who recently celebrated 20 years in business, sees power in the way intricate dressing “allows for a presence,” away from the tides of hyper-minimalism. Nothing is quite as luxurious as a finely crafted garment made with immense attention to detail, and so, whether it be an ’80s rock ’n’ roll redux, homage to the aughts, or a Rococo revival, it makes sense that visible ornamentation is so back.
